Obituary of Naylor, Bennie Lee

Naylor, Bennie Lee, 89, died peacefully Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Dallas Medical Center following complications from a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.  Dr. Naylor leaves his wife of 41 years and the love of his life, Lucille (Clemensen) Naylor; and many close friends and relatives.  Born in Junction City, Kansas, he is preceded in death by his parents, James Parker and Kathline (Smith) Naylor, and older brother, James Lewis Naylor.  His family moved to Waco, Texas, when he was young where he grew up and considered home, attending Waco High School (Class of ’43) and Baylor University.  Following graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving 3 years before being honorably discharged as a Gunner’s Mate Second Class.  After serving in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Naylor attended Baylor University followed by Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, where he graduated with his D.D.S. in 1952.  After graduating from dental school, he successfully and compassionately practiced general dentistry in North Dallas for 40 years, serving thousands of patients before retiring.  He took pride in his professional skill and patient satisfaction. He was known as a kind, gentle, and talented dentist.  Dr. Naylor was an avid bowler and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, competing in many bowling and bass fishing tournaments.  He had a passion for animals, especially dogs.  In addition to his wife, Lucy Naylor, survivors include first cousin, Shirley Spivey Kellar, and her husband, Marshal Kellar, of Abilene; Shirley’s daughters, Kim Kickliter Seavey, of Tampa, Florida, and Karen Kickliter Witt, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and their families; and the children of his first cousin, the late Lindsey Garland Spivey II, Catherine Spivey Sentell, of Dallas, and Craig Garland Spivey, of Dallas, and their families. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19 at the North Dallas Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, your local animal shelter, or a charity of your choice. Please send family condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.
