I am so sorry to hear of Evan’s passing. I will always appreciate how he stepped in to cover my son’s class English class when the regular teacher left unexpectedly. He guided so many Lakehill students, including my son, through the college application process and was always such a willing and knowledgeable resource.

As a graduate of the Lakehill Preparatory School Class of 1984, I have to say that Mr. Higgon was my very favorite teacher in High School. He was funny, kind, and had a smile for me on many days when I didn’t feel like smiling. As a side note, I felt very prepared for every English class I took in college, while many students around me struggled! He was always able to teach in a way that was interesting and understandable. Rest in Peace, Mr. Higgon, and thanks for the memories!

  9. Jennifer Jacobie Ewing says:

I have just learned of Mr. Higgon’s passing. I was fortunate enough to have him both as a teacher & as a colleague. I have never seen someone as dedicated to students’ successes as he was. As an English teacher, drama teacher, Student Council Sponsor, and Senior sponsor, he was a positive influence every step of the way. He went way above & beyond the call of duty for both Lakehill and the surrounding community. He always believed in giving back, and organized a yearly Christmas dinner for the elderly as well as opportunities for students to help the elderly in the surrounding area. He was so intelligent, quick witted, and was the first person in my life to encourage me to find out who I truly was inside…not just to behave as others expected of me. His name and memory will live on for a long time to come. He will be greatly missed.
