Obituary of Noland, Niobe Jean

Niobe Noland, 84, of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed away March 10, 2015 after a short illness. Niobe was born in Delaware Bend in 1930 to JR and Mertie Dick. She had three siblings, Halle, Kydeen, and LaBoyte. Growing up, she loved to play the piano, had a favorite cat named VNose and a horse named Penny. She graduated from North Texas State College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1950. In 1952 she married Charles Noland, of Whitesboro, Texas. After meeting Charles, whose passion was flying, she learned to fly a plane herself so she’d be able to land in case of emergency. They were happily married for 49 years until his death in 2003.

Niobe enjoyed a career as an executive secretary until her children were born. Occasionally, she resumed her career in order to buy something special. One such purchase was a piano, which she enjoyed playing throughout her life. She was a lifelong devoted Christian, and had begun attending Christ United Methodist Church in 2004, where she made many friends in her Sunday School classes.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Noland, Beverly Schlee and son-in-law Michael Buil and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation: North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX, 75234. Friday 13 March, 4:00-7:00 pm. 972-241-9100, 1-800-300-1655

Niobe was a dear friend from Hi School and also college. We both had different lives; hers in Dallas, and I in California. After we both lost our husbands we became best friends & enjoyed long phone calls, and occasional visits at my brothers house in Whitesboro, Tx.We had wonderfull conversations thru the years; scarey ghost stories too.Niobe will be greatly missed by her friends & family.Goodby until we meet again Niobe..Friends forever..love,& may you rest in peace.
