“I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks.”

Obituary of
Holloway, Virginia Mae (Martin)
Virginia Mae (Martin) Holloway was born on February 24, 1925, in Grand Cane, Louisiana to Bessie Chaffin and John D. Martin. She passed away on June 4, 2015 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 90. Virginia lived a very full life. She received a BS degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana in May 1945. After college, she moved to Dallas and worked for the Camp Fire Girls. She met and married James Porter Holloway on May 18, 1946. They made their home in Dallas, Texas. Virginia was never happier than when all of her children and grandchildren gathered together with her. She and her husband joined Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church (PHPC) in 1954. Her church and family were her life after the death of her husband in 1978. During her time at PHPC she taught Sunday school for 15 years, served 2 terms as an Elder, was a member of the Good Grief Group, served 4 years of Disciples’ Classes and made a trip to Israel and the Greek Islands with this group, participated for many years in Presbyterian Women and served as President of this group for 1 year, and attended a painting class every Wednesday for about 25 years. She also served on several mission trips to Mexico. Other activities she enjoyed were tennis, golf, scrapbooking, water aerobics and bridge at the “Y” with her friends. Virginia’s friends and family will miss her sense of humor, her spirit, her love, her laugh, and her presence as well as her unique blend of resiliency, and patience. She was a soft spoken, strong and courageous lady. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Monticello West for their meticulous and loving care, along with the hospice caregivers of New Century Hospice. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, James Porter Holloway; sister, Elsie Martin Harris; and brother, James C (Boss) Martin. She is survived by her 3 children: Jan and Kent Stadler, James and Katherine Holloway, and Julie and John Morrow; her brother John Earl Martin; Grandchildren: Meredith and David McBee, Phillip Miller, Porter Miller, Greg Stadler, Erik and Julie Stadler, Jessica Holloway, Austin Holloway, Travis Holloway, Raymond & Maggie Morrow, Ellen Morrow, Stanton Morrow, and Rachel & Luis Ramirez; Great Grandchildren: David McBee, Madison McBee, Ava Stadler, Eva Ramirez , and Brit Morrow; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 9 at 3:00pm at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road in Dallas. A reception will follow the service.
