Mefford, Donald Ross

Donald R. Mefford, a longtime resident of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed away on June 26, 2015.  Don was born January 24, 1929 in Lincoln Hill, PA.

He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Lorraine, and parents, Milton and Elizabeth Mefford.

Survivors include devoted wife, Colleen, sisters, Virginia Kurata and Louise Stuck, brother, Milton Mefford and a host of nieces and nephews. Don will be sorely missed by neighbors, friends, and any orphaned critters.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Rockwell Collins as an engineer.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 10:30 am in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.

Interment with military honors will follow at 12:30 pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211, Lane C.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Farmers Branch Animal Shelter in honor of Don.

Sincere belated condolences to family and friends. Had a great time with and enjoyed the company of Don and Lorraine during their time at Collins Radio in Australia.

Don was a great guy to work with. I worked with him many years at Collins Radio. We had a great time working together in Australia for two years in 1970,1971,1972.

Went to many Dallas Cowboys games with Don and my late uncle Doyle Holcomb A true American hero and a prince of a guy! He will wear Cowboys Blue when passing the Pearly Gates
