When I attended my first Southwestern Watercolor Meeting, Hermine and Alfred were among the first to welcome me. I enjoyed their friendship ever since. Hermine’s charming personality was as captivating as her beautiful artwork, and now her SWS friends will feel such a loss at her passing.

Hermine and I were great “buddies” thru SWS and I will surely miss her smiles and positive attitude. We are out of the country and not able to attend the service, but wanted the family to know that Hermine was loved by more people than they know.

I have know Hermine for many years. She was in my watercolor class for years. We all loved her. She drove that little Red car until she decided at 95, she would stop driving. During class, we would play music while painting in the afternoon. Hermione would say, ” I know you can’t see it, but I am dancing.” I think Hermine danced all of her life and each day. I loved her.
The Southwestern Watercolor Society has set up a Memorial Award for Hermine Sallinger for the Annual SWS Exhibition for 2016. Memorial contributions may be sent to Pam Wilson, Treasurer of Southwestern Watercolor Society, 1086 Hawkweed Way, Allen TX 75013. To the family, Thank you for sharing your Hermine with us all. Please send me an address as I will be writing a Memorial in the SWS website for October and would like to send it to you. Love, Pat Kochan

I feel so fortunate to have met Hermine. From the moment I moved in next door, she was so warm and welcoming. We enjoyed some great conversations. One thing that was evident was how important her family was to her. She was a remarkable woman and she will be missed. My condolences go out to her family. My thoughts are with you. Kathy Davis

    Dear Sallinger family,
Our hearts ache for you in your loss of the incomparable Hermine. For more than forty years, she blessed our lives with wit and wisdom, laughter and love … always, always love. You will be in our prayers as you adjust to the absence of her physical presence, but we know she will never truly leave you. She will remain in your hearts as one of God’s greatest gifts for eternity, as she will in ours.
    With love and sympathy,
    Karen, Jimmie Lee, and Catherine
