“I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks.”
Don was a tremendous colleague. His perspective based on his life experiences was invaluable to me. Don provided sage advice to our department on numerous occasions. As a classroom teacher he provided Stout students with perspectives they would never have been exposed to if it not for Don.
He was a true friend and I will miss him greatly. God bless you .

I was a student of Don’s in 1990 and again in 1991 in senior level courses. Don used his life experiences as ways to enhance how he taught. I can say without a doubt he was one of my favorite professors in undergrad. For both courses at the end of the semester he invited his students to his home in Cedar Falls, Wisconsin for sangria and snacks. It was great. I even dropped off a few jugs of sangria after I graduated. Even after I graduated and ultimately went to graduate school in Whitewater, whenever I was in Menomonie, I made it a rule to stop by Don’s office to talk about anything and solve the problems of the world. When I became a professor in the Business Department at Stout years after Don retired, I wanted his old office. The memories were and are still strong of the time we spent together. Unfortunately, another professor will not move out (Mac). In any case, I will always remember Don with very fond memories. The thoughts and prayers of my wife and I are with Don and his family. Don…you will be missed, but never forgotten. God Bless, Mark Fenton

May God bless the Chatman family! Don was a man who had an abundance of wisdom; and willing to share it whether you wanted to hear it or not!
He will be missed!
