Obituary of Harris, Donald C.

Donald "Butch" Clyde Harris II, 73, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. He was surrounded by his wife Becky Sisk-Harris and oldest son Donald C Harris III. Don was born on January 20, 1942 to Donald C Harris Sr and mother Ola Mae in Dallas, Texas. He was the second of five children which included three sisters and one brother. Some time between 1942 and 1946 his parents divorced and his mother remarried Walter Emory Mabrey in January 1946. Shortly after his youngest sister was born, the family moved out to California where Don graduated from high school in the city of Merced, California. Upon graduating high school, he joined the US Army in 1960. After basic training at Fort Ord, California and specialized training, he became a helicopter maintenance chief and was ultimately stationed in the towns of Nuremberg and Fredericksburg, Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge upon leaving the Army with the rank of Sergeant. In 1967, he met his first wife Shirley Ann Coffey and after about a year of courtship, they married in June 1968. In May of 1969 their first child, Donald C Harris III was born. In December 1973 their second child, Thomas Emory Harris was born. Over the next eight years Don and his family enjoyed numerous activities which included a trip to Colorado in the summer of 1978. Don and Shirley divorced in March 1981. For the next seven years he held several different careers. He worked for the Grand Prairie Independent School District as the head custodian at South Grand Prairie High School. He also held the job as a chain link fence installer and rose to the position of Foreman with Gothard Industries Corporation (GIC). Don and Rebecca "Becky" Sisk met in 1986 when both were working at GIC. Their relationship was kindled on July 29th after Don returned to the office and gave Becky three red roses as a thank you for helping him with preparing his expense report. Don and Becky started building a life together from that point forward. They enjoyed camping and fishing, working in the garden, playing card games with his two sons and spending time together. On December 29, 2004 they were married in a special ceremony at the home of Becky's parents. Donald C Harris II is survived by his wife Becky Sisk-Harris, two sons Donald C Harris III and Thomas E Harris and sisters Christine Grant and Karen Myrick. Military honors will be rendered at DFW National Cemetery. Date and time are pending. Please leave family condolences and share memories on this website.

Becky, I wish I could be there with you. You have been through so much in the last year. You know you are in my thoughts and prayers as are all of those in the family. Maybe now Don and Jeff will go fishing together again. I love you very much. Sissie
