“I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks.”

Obituary of
Hidalgo, Hector O.
Beloved husband, father, pediatrician and mentor, Héctor O. Hidalgo, MD, 91, passed away from Alzheimer’s in his home in Dallas on Thursday, November 5, 2015. Born in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico September 21, 1924, he was the only child to architect Osvaldo Hidalgo and schoolteacher Carmín González, who loved him dearly, and preceded him in death. After graduating from high school, the Hidalgos moved to Washington, DC and later to Boston, where he graduated from Boston University School of Medicine. Upon returning to Puerto Rico, he served in the US Army. He married the love of his life, Carmen “Cuqui” M. Gorbea in 1950, whom until the very end, he still called her “mi novia” (my girlfriend). He became a preeminent pediatrician on the island until his retirement in 1994, when they moved to Dallas to live close to their children. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cuqui, his children Hector Luis (Magda) and Karen, his grandchildren Gabriel (Floy), Maritere (Joshua), Erica and Kenny (Lauren), and great-grandchildren Lorenzo and Joaquín. The family would like to thank his loving caretakers Rosalinda and Patricia, as well as the VNA Hospice for their compassionate care. There will be a celebration of his life officiated by Fr. Jonathan Austin at St. Jude’s Chapel, 1521 Main St., Dallas at noon on Saturday, November 21, 2015. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
