Obituary of
Lewis, Patricia "Diane" (Morris)
Patricia (Diane) Lewis died at home on Monday night,Ā February 1, 2016.Ā Her husbandĀ (Donald Lewis) and her sister (Phyllis Brandon) were beside her bed at the time. The massive cancer discovered in her pelvic area in April 2015 eventually caused her death. Surgery and subsequent chemo treatments failed to totally cure her. Rather than continue treatments, Diane opted to leave the hospital in JanuaryĀ and spend the rest of her life at home.
She was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi to John Paul Morris and Bessie Evelyn Morris on June 18, 1941. After being raised and schooled in Mississippi.Ā She sought work in Memphis, TN and later moved to the Dallas area.
After employment in property management for 30 plus years she retired and entered activitiesĀ thatĀ were pleasing to her.Ā She loved animals so she volunteered to help at the Operations Kindness shelter in Carrollton. She spent many hours at adoption shows for dogs and cats.Ā Another activity that interested her was gardening. She underwentĀ training to becomeĀ a Master Gardener.
She was a very personable individual and accumulated many friends over the years.Ā She loved to travel and did so with her husband.Ā Many vacations include cruises and visits to various islands.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at the North Dallas Funeral Home chapel, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch , Texas 75234 at 2 pm Thursday, February 11, 2016.
Any donations in her honor should be made to "Operation Kindness".
Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

Diane and I worked together for many years at SVI. I became ‘Dee’ because she was already Diane. She was a wonderful friend and Heddy and I will miss her. Don, please know my prayers are with you.

I lived on the same property Kip Barton lived on and sometimes relocated animals that were high risk rabies carriers, but I managed to catch a guinea pig once and took it to SVI and within 30 minutes Diane found a loving home for this precious little animal. We had our disagreements but always found ways to “agree to disagree ” Diane was a unique and very special LADY ! I have the Ultimate Respect for her and what she believed in and her love for animals!
God Bless You Diane,
My condolences to your family members,
You will always be missed but never forgotten!

Diane was a wonderful mentor to me as a new and tentative volunteer at the shelter. We bathed dogs together and she helped give me confidence to work with the new and scared arrivals…her speciality! We shared a love of gardening and would dead head spent flowers as we walked “pups” on the OK campus. Her beautiful presence will be surely missed by her OK family!

What shocking news to hear about the loss of Diane. Diane and her team at SVI managed a property that I lived on a few years ago. I know she is in heaven still managing. Love You Diane.
