Obituary of
Brock, Robert (Bob) Wesley
Robert (Bob) Wesley Brock passed away on February 16, 2016. He was born on November 16, 1928, in Denton, Texas, to Ernest and Marguerite Brock. Bob attended school in Denton from first grade through his graduation from University of North Texas with a journalism degree.
Following graduation, Bob went to work as a beat reporter for the Denton Record Chronicle, working there until he signed on at the Dallas Times Herald. Bob and his wife Dee moved to Dallas in 1952, where they began their family and a long relationship with the city. Bob remained at the Times Herald until the newspaper was sold.
First a beat reporter at the Times Herald, Bob soon became a popular and long-standing reporter on the entertainment scene in Dallas and around the country. He covered the burgeoning nightclub scene, which included not only up-and-coming local talent, but also local appearances of many national celebrities. Later, he became the television editor of the Times Herald, best known for his weekly column “Ask Bob Brock” and expanding his presence in the local celebrity scene.
In recent years, Bob moved to The Bentley in Dallas where he immediately became a leader of the retirement community's social life. He will be sorely missed by those new friends, as well as the many other friends he gathered through the years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his first wife Dee Brock of Tyler, Texas, and their three sons: Baron Brock of Omaha, Nebraska; Bishop Brock and his wife, Fara of Coupland, Texas; and Bevin Brock and his wife Nancy of Little Elm, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Craig, Amy and Blair; and his great-grandchildren Peyton, Connor and Cameron. Also survived by his second wife, Jean Sutton.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 19, in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

Bob Brock was a celebrity in my household when I was growing up, long before I met him! My dad ‘had’ to read his column in the Dallas Times Herald every day! When I met Nancy Brock, we became friends and I got to meet Bob and the whole Brock group. I got to join that group. Bob was a sweetheart with a big personality and oozed charm and was always the life of the party! I’m so sad I had to miss his service. He will be greatly missed. Lots of love to the whole Brock family❤️ Jean and Michael Maroney

Bob Brock was a great writer with a brilliant mind, kind heart and a keen sense of humor. He was my respected friend. Bob gave me the idea in the form of a question which led me to solve a huge PR challenge turning it into a fabulously successful event. I will always be grateful for his wisdom, professionalism, inspiration, and his friendship. May God abundantly bless Bob Brock and his family.
