Kelley, Nettie Mae Austin
Nettie Mae Austin Kelley died on February 28, 2016. She was 100 years old. She was born in Dunwoody, Georgia on February 20, 1916, the daughter of Nettie Southern and Glenn Greer Austin.Ā For 57 years she was the wife of Kendrick King Kelley, Jr. Mrs. Kelley is survived by her daughter, Karen Kelley Stotts, Dallas, Texas, and her son, Alfred Glenn Kelley, Falls Church, Virginia; two grandsons: Alan Kendrick Stotts (Paige), Salt Lake City, Utah; and Glenn Kelley Stotts (Sarah), Austin, Texas; four great grandchildren: Hayden Kendrick Stotts and Erin Paige Stotts, Salt Lake City, Utah, and William Austin Stotts and Katherine Alyce Stotts, Austin, Texas; one brother, Edward J. Austin, Cumming, Georgia, and wife Frances; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband Kendrick King Kelley, Jr.; her first son, Kendrick King Kelley III, who was killed in Vietnam; two brothers, John Southern Austin and Glenn Thomas Austin; two sisters, Gladys Austin Mann and Sarah Austin Zorn. Mrs. Kelley attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. She met and married her husband in Atlanta, Georgia, where they lived until he was called for active duty in World War II.Ā For almost 50 years Mrs. Kelley and her family lived in Jacksonville, Florida, where she was a devoted member of Riverside Park United Methodist Church. In 1997 she moved to Dallas, Texas to be near her daughter and lived at Presbyterian Village North. She joined Highland Park Presbyterian Church, which was a great blessing to her.Ā The family is grateful to the caregivers at Presbyterian Village North and to Chioma Kanu, Linda Boles, Francisca Luna, Sharon Isaac and others.Ā If memorials are desired, the family suggests that they be made to Davidson College, Ken Kelley Program in Historical Studies, Box 7528, Davidson, NCĀ 28035.
