  1. Nancy Warner Vance says:

I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man and I wish I knew him as an adult. He coached my sisters and my softball team in the mid 1960’s. We really liked him and he was a good coach. As an adult, my Mother, Martha Warner, told me a story about Web that happened when I was on the team. Years ago, one time, during a game, Web called me out at home plate. I argued with him, then got on my bike and ride home, not finishing the game, due to the injustice. Mom said he called her later that evening to see how I was because he’d never seen me upset so much that is leave a game. He even began to doubt if his call was correct or not. I don’t remember the incident, but Mom was talking about what a kind man he was. I loved him.
