Powell, Theresa Leverette

Theresa Leverette Powell was born August 4, 1936 in Dallas, Texas, and died September 5, 2016 in Celina, Texas of bone cancer.  She was 80 years old.  Theresa graduated high school from St. Edward’s Academy in Dallas and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from UTD in criminal justice.  She spent her adult life focused on her husband, children and extended family and she loved to travel, especially with family and friends.

Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Bill Powell; her parents, Floyd and Gertrude Leverette: her sisters, Virginia Schnitzius and Mary Cerra; and great grandson, Bennett Allen Tharp.

She is survived by her brother and sister in-law, Joe and Sue Leverette; sister and brother in-law, Margie and Vic Muse; sister and brother in-law, Dorothy and Frank Adamcik; brother in-law, Pat Schnitzius; son, Richard Powell and his wife, Lisa; son, Kerry Powell and his wife, Linda; daughter, Eileen Bordelon and her husband, Jerome; daughter, Joanna Brown and her husband, Pat; and ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday, 9 September 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 am, rosary is at 11:00 am all in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.

Mass of Christian burial is Friday, 9 September 2016 at 2:00 pm at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 14032 Dennis Road, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.

Interment will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Family Catholic Church, P.O. Box 482, Van Alstyne, TX 75495 would be appreciated.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Powell's family in this time of great loss. She and her husband Bill were always so kind and welcoming to me and that is something I will remember. I will always be a better person for having known them both.
