I worked with Scott in the 1980s in Dallas when he was a Customs Special Agent and I was an Import Specialist. But it was during the last few years that I really came to know and appreciate Scott the human being. He was so very proud of his son Aaron, and devoted to his mother and the memory of his late father. I can’t count the number of times he told me – at a time when he was suffering from multiple illnesses – how lucky and blessed he felt. Scott taught me by example what courage and dignity look like in the most difficult of circumstances. I have lost a dear friend, and I will miss him terribly.

To Scott’s family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Scott since the late 1970’s when he was a rookie inspector in Houston. I always liked him and admired how smart he was. In 1988, on our first day at Customs HQ, we ran into Scott. I was so happy to see a familiar, friendly face. Also, I have admired how he bravely fought against everything he faced in the last few years. Rest in Peace, Scott.
