Furra, Florence Laverne

Florence Laverne Furra of Emory, Texas passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the age of 89.  She was born on October 3, 1927 in Little Rock, Arkansas to her parents Charlie Akins and Lillie Kennedy Akins.

Florence also known as “Bun, Mom, Granny Bun, and Meme” is survived by her children, Charlotte and Jerry Busby of Emory, Texas, Gay and Don Sherbert of The Colony, Texas, Darlene and Al Castorena of Emory, Texas, Ronny and Sandy Johnson of Palestine, Texas; grandchildren, Jerry and Tonya Busby, Debbie and Tom Hooten, Crystal Howse, Shelia and George Meade, Sharon, Sharla Hill, Sheryl Donaldson, Sheri Gates, Luke Hill, Corey Hill, Brandon Sherbert; 28 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; and sister, Jean Akins of Mineola, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve Furra; 8 sisters; 1 brother; and son, Floyd Hill.

Pallbearers will be Colton Hooten, Machan Meade, Luke Hill, Corey Hill, Brandon Sherbert and Josh Busby.  Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Meade and Stanley Pate.

Visitation is Monday, November 6, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.

Service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm in the chapel.

Interment will be a Crown Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.

Florence was the best mother and always there for any one whom needed her, and she always lifted spirits when they felt down. Also was the sweetest and kindest grandmother whom loved all her grand children. She always listened to me when I needed her the most.
