Virginia was born October 2, 1937 in New York City, New York. The family moved back to Galveston, Texas where Virginia graduated from Ball High School. As a young woman, Virginia, also known to all as “Virgie”, applied for a jewelry position with C.M. Yater Jewelers in downtown Dallas where she learned her trade. Virgie’s jewelry career blossomed and eventually Virgie and Roy started their jewelry design and manufacturing company in Arlington, Texas. She continued to work with her creations up until her death.
Virgie was a devoted sports mother to her sons. You would see her cheering for her sons at basketball gyms throughout Texas to the wrestling mats in Oklahoma to the YMCA football and baseball fields in Dallas to the Little League baseball fields in Farmers Branch and of course, at the football field at R.L. Turner Stadium. Not only was she a spectator, but she also made a difference in the lives of many young girls by volunteering to coach these young girls in softball. Even until the end she cheered her grandnieces and grandnephews on to victory in their sporting endeavors. Virginia Carrillo Morales was the ultimate loving wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, colleague, friend and business woman who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Rogelio Morales, Sr.; her three sons, Rogelio Morales, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Dan Morales of Ft. Worth, Texas, Paul Morales of Dallas, Texas; her niece, Lydia Urias Mueller; and her nephew, Fred Urias, both of who were like children to her; brothers, Morris Carrillo, Jr., Frances Carrillo, Sally Carrillo Chavez, Peter Carrillo; her grandchildren, Roy Morales III, Daniel Morales, Chantel Morales Cardona and Michael Morales; three great grandchildren Joseph and Jude Cardona, Hunter Morales; and grandniece, Madison Mueller, who was like a granddaughter to her; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
