Obituary of Meinzer, Hoie Charles

Hoie Charles Meinzer, 73, passed away January 22, 2017, at his home in Carrollton of complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis. He was born July 8, 1943, to Robert and Norma (Stanley) Meinzer in Weatherford, Texas. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1961 and was a graduate of the University of North Texas.  He served three years in the Army as an E5 specialist.  He married Edna Louise Fraley in 1966.  He joined Valwood Park Baptist in 1974 and served faithfully as Chairman of Finance, Sunday School teacher and Deacon.  Hoie was a long-time employee of the Motorola Corporation and spent his career in the Finance and Telecommunications Industry.  He loved his son’s best friends and watched out for them: Jared Hays, Chad Malera and Ronnie Miller.  He will be missed by his Monday coffee group: King Neale, Mitch Naugher, Jerry Bowman, Jim Green, Harold Simmons and Bevins Raulston. Hoie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edna; daughter and son-in-law, Kyra and Jeff Atchison of Tuscola, Texas; son, Britt Meinzer of Tuscola, Texas; grandchildren, Pierce and Rachel Atchison and many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dogs, Sam and Junior. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Meinzer. The family would like to recognize the outstanding care given by Bluebonnet Hospice, especially Brent, Melanie and Sharon. His family will receive friends on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Valwood Park Baptist Church in Farmers Branch, Texas from 6:00-7:30. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Valwood Park Baptist Church. Hoie will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas 75211. Pallbearers are Jared Hays, Chad Melera, Ronnie Miller, King Neale, Pierce Atchison and Bevins Raulston. Honorary pallbearers are Mitch Naugher, Jerry Bowman, Jim Green and Harold Simmons. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Valwood Park Baptist Church. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
