Stein, Esther Barzune
Esther Barzune Stein, 97, of Dallas passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 13 surrounded by family at her home. Esther was born on December 21, 1919, to Gladys and Louis Barzune. She graduated from Forest High School in 1936. She loved plants and was active in Garden Club and Hadassah. She was a member of both Shearith Israel Synagogue and Temple Emanu-El for many years. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years, Roy Stein, her mother and father; brothers, Sol Barzune and Dr. Ben Barzune; and son, Brent “Stoney” Stein. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marleen Stein Gold and Ronald Gold; nieces and nephews, Dolores and Dr. Larry Barzune, Gail and Dr. Peter Loeb, Stuart Barzune, their children and grandchildren and cousin, Rosalee Cohen. She is also survived by her beloved caregiver and friend Louisa Casey. Esther loved and was loved by friends, her extended family and kept in touch both in person and via Facebook. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Shearith Israel Memorial Park, 4634 Dolphin Road, Dallas, Texas. Services are under the direction of Charles E. McCoy, Funeral Director and David Prager, Jewish Funeral Care Specialist. In lieu of flowers you may remember her with a donation to your favorite charity.
