Shegog Sr., Ronnie Roy

Ronnie Roy Shegog, Sr., was born March 8, 1954 to the late Sarah and Eddie Lee Shegog, Sr., in Lawton, Oklahoma. He passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017.

Ronnie graduated in 1972 from Eisenhower High School and then joined the US Army in 1972-1977. He was stationed in Germany and during this time took up the sport of racquetball and became an avid competitor. After leaving the US Army he returned to Lawton, Oklahoma and worked for the City of Lawton for 18 years at the Owens Multipurpose center working with at risk children. He then pursued his dream of becoming an entrepreneur and became a successful business owner while in Lawton. In 1999, Ronnie moved to Dallas, Texas where he owned a successful dry cleaner. He continued to maintain his competitiveness by playing basketball and establishing many dear friends in process. Ronnie, also, enjoyed taking road trips, watching movies, and spending time with his family and friends.

Ronnie fought a long good fight, and on Sunday, December 3, 2017 he departed this life.

Cherishing his love and memories are the survivors, his wife, Margaret Shegog, a daughter, Stephanie Parrish, a grandson, Zahvea Shegog, of Dallas, Texas, a sister, Bonnie Kelley (Bob), of Springfield, Virginia, a brother, Anthony Shegog (Kui), of Lawton, Oklahoma, and a sister-in-law, Lynn Hooper, of Dallas, Texas. His nephews: Anthony Shegog Jr., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, J.J. Shegog (Anita), of Atlanta, Georgia, Treneil Shegog and Dwight Shegog (Denise), of Lawton, Oklahoma, Damien Kelley, of Atlanta Georgia, and Chet Hooper of Wichita Falls, Texas. His niece, Courtney Hooper-Heiblim (Derek) of Clearwater, Florida, and furry friend Buddy “the boxer” Shegog. Along with other relatives and many special friends.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents Sarah and Eddie Lee Shegog, Sr., his beloved son, Ronnie “Lil Ronnie” Shegog Jr., his brothers, Eddie, Jr. and Joe Dean Shegog, and mother-in-law, Dorothy Hooper.

A memorial service is to be held on December 13th, 2017 at 2 o’clock at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 602 NW Arlington Ave., Lawton, Oklahoma 73507 with Dr. Willie B. Smith officiating.
