Obituary of Simmons, James Duwayne

James Duwayne Simmons was born March 29, 1957, in Sacramento, California. He was the third child of five children of the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Valree Simmons. He accepted Christ at an early age. James attended Grant High School in Sacramento, California, graduated and enlisted in The United States Army, in June 1977.  He served as a Unit Supply Specialist and Small Arms Maintenance. He was stationed in West Germany where he met Mary Louise Nahlen and they had a son, James Duwayne (Simmons) Nahlen.  He was later transferred to Fort Lewis Washington where he was Honorably Discharged in November 1981.  He then served two additional years, ( until June 1983) in the Army Reserves. James moved to Dallas, TX where he met and married Jennifer Duarte.  To this union were born a son and daughter. James preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Whorton Simmons. James leaves to mourn his death, his wife Jennifer Simmons, and two children Jaylon and Jazmine Simmons in Dallas, TX.  His son James Simmons-Nahlen and one grandson Elia James (Simmons) Nahlen in Bullay, Germany.  His siblings, Gatha Simmons, Carmen Simmons-Perez, Ellen Marie Bell-Marshall,  James Deal Carter Sr. (cousin), a uncle James Deal, three aunts Edna Polk, Ivory Deal, and Elaine Deal, a nephew Julian Barrios, three nieces Reinita Travis, Marisa Perez, and Lidia Perez, and a host of family and friends.
