I first met Gary when I became a police explorer in 1988. He was always kind and genuine and was most definitely a positive influence on me. I enjoyed discussing 1911 pistols with him as he very well versed with them. Gary was a very good police officer and will be, greatly, missed.
May God bless him and his family.

I met Gary back in 1986 when I first began my career as a Police Officer. Through the years I had the privilege to work along side of him. Gary was always respectful and kind to me. We shared many interesting calls along the way. I also learned a lot from Gary. The one thing that stands out about Garyās work ethics is he was always willing to lend a hand to help people. Gary always had a laugh that was contagious. It saddened me to learn of Garyās passing. A little piece of my heart is now missing. You will be missed my brother in Blue….. I am thankful I got to see you back in October. I also know I will see you again. Rest in the arms of Jesus

Gary had a heart as big as Texas. He genuinely loved God, his family, his country and serving others. He also loved being a police officer and the opportunity to serve the citizens of Grand Prairie. He will not be simply missed by those of us who knew him, he will be mourned.

When I was out running the Firebird, Gary was always on the itinerary. We’d sit for an hour, or so, in your garage, talking about stuff. It wasn’t so much the talks as much as it was the fellowship and listening to your dry sense of humor. Mary, if you ever hear tires squealing away out on Matthew Rd, that will be me. Gary always made me do it when I was leaving, and I always enjoyed his squid salute followed by a thumbs up as I watched him in my rear view mirror… I was actually looking for COPS, but always saw him. RIP brother

Gary will be missed. He was the first police officer I rode with more than 30 years ago when I was a police explorer. He was my mentor, friend, and my go-to guy when I was tasked with creating GPPDās Citizens on Patrol program. Iām glad I had the chance to visit with him at our recent GPPD Alumni Association meeting. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
