Obituary of Martin, Shawn Jay (Evans)

Shawn Jay (Evans) Martin of Carrollton, Texas passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the age of 47. Shawn Evans Martin was born on June 20, 1971 in Dallas, Texas to Libby and Bart Evans.  Shortly after she was born, she moved to Midland where she lived until she graduated from high school.   She attended Angelo State University and received her degree in Marketing.  After graduation and working several years in San Angelo, she and her daughter, Amber, moved to Dallas where she began working in customer service, ultimately for Bank of America. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2015 and fought a bold and courageous battle.  She saw victory in putting the cancer into remission for over three years.  In late 2018 she learned the cancer had returned.  She continued to fight with the same dignity, grace, and courage she has always had.  After several complications she now home in the arms of our Gracious God. She is survived by her loving husband, Greg; daughter, Amber Talton; her mother, Libby Evans of Dallas; her sister, Monica Overgaard; and her family, Steven, Cory, & Jake of San Antonio; her grandmother, Lou Quinius of Austin; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Shawn’s honor to Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure (Collin County) or the American Cancer Society. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
