Obituary of Britton Sr., Marvin Richard

Marvin Richard Britton Sr. passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Prestonwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Plano TX, at the age of 72. Marvin was born on October 19th, 1946 in San Antonio TX to Emerald (Coker) Britton and Carl Britton.  Shortly after attending Douglas MacArthur High School, Marvin chose to follow the career path of his Father (and other family members), by serving in the U.S. Army.  Marvin loved being in the Armed Forces.  He spent some time overseas in Germany, in the US, at Fort Hood, TX, Fort Shafter on the Island of Oahu, and Ft Leavenworth, KS.  He completed almost 22 years of service and then retired while living in Ft. Leavenworth, in 1991, as a Sergeant First Class (E7) and returned to San Antonio, TX.  Marvin truly enjoyed his hobbies over those years, especially working on clocks or watches, and coin collecting.  After becoming ill in 2015, his family made the difficult decision to move him into a Nursing Facility in Plano, TX where he could be cared for. Marvin is survived by his children; Ronnette Davis Arnold (51), Marvin “Richard” Britton Jr. (48), Joanne Britton (46); Sisters: Katherine Browder, Carleen Schult and Charleen Portis; Nieces/Nephews: William Browder, Karen Browder, Jennifer Mills; and numerous cousins and extended family The family would like to thank Prestonwood Rehab for the love, care, and support he received while living there the last 3 ½ years.  Marvin thought very highly of the staff which includes Archway Hospice. A full Veterans memorial service will be held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX, 75211 at 1:30 pm on April 4th. In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to send a donation to The Fisher House which assist Veterans and their Families: https://engage.fisherhouse.org/goto/MarvinBritton Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

I got to spend many years with you as your step-son, we had our ups and downs but you did some things with me and my brothers that other dads didn’t do. I remember getting up early to go watch the Houston oilers practice then tried to get autographs after their practice, that was probably the best memory I have, you were the best cook I ever knew and still to this day, the last thing I have to say is thank you for teaching us kids life lessons and how to respect others. I appreciate you more then anyone will ever know, hope you Rest In Peace.. thank you

It is with great pain and many tears I say goodbye to my brother. He was a good man who loved all of his children. He was a great soldier and proud to serve. He will be missed.
