Obituary of Mason, Massy Eula Davidson

Massy was born on May 14, 1929 to Edgar and Minnie Davidson in a small town outside of Tallahassee, Florida.  She left this earth peacefully on June 8, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Massy was the sixth of seven children.  She married Sherwood “Mike” Mason on May 23, 1948 in Port St. Joe, Florida after his discharge from the Navy.  They moved to Odessa, Texas the following year.  Massy was the beloved mother to Michelle Mason Mirkovic and Tony Mason.  She was also much beloved by her 15 nieces and nephews who all called her Aunt Mac.  In addition, she had three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. In 2014, she moved to Windsor Senior Living in Dallas, Texas.  She was loved by the staff there because she smiled at everyone and could frequently be heard humming hymns or show tunes.  The staff members on the fourth floor were sad when she moved to Tremont Nursing Center in March, 2018.  She was very well cared-for and her family sincerely appreciates the staff of Tremont as well as the nurses, chaplain, aides and social workers from Encompass Hospice who attended to her during the final months of her life. Massy was preceded in death by her husband Sherwood and her siblings:  Hardie Davidson, Al Davidson, Edward Davidson, Mary Davidson Sweatt, and Don Davidson.  She is survived by her brother, Elmer Davidson, her children, grandchildren, and numerous extended family members. Massy enjoyed helping others and never wanted to be the center of attention.  As such, she requested no funeral service.  She will be buried next to her husband in a private ceremony.  Her children, nieces and nephews have planned a reunion to celebrate her life later this year.
