Obituary of Lee, Thomas Duon

Thomas Duon Lee, of Farmers Branch, Texas went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2019.   He was surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born June 26, 1931 in Leetown, Mississippi to Culbert and Eunice Lee.   He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and a Master of Science in Geology.     He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in the Philippines for three years during the Korean War. Tom began his career with Mobil Oil in Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1958 and continued with the company in Dallas as a Paleontologist until his retirement in 1992. In 1956, Tom married Sue Lee and remained dedicated to her for more than 62 years.   As they raised their family together, Tom’s example of selflessness and generosity was instrumental in molding his two sons into the men they have become.   Tom and Sue were inseparable. Tom was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, where he was a devoted Prayer Warrior in the prayer room every Sunday afternoon.   He also loved spending time working in the yard especially with his sons and granddaughters.   Tom delighted in coaching his sons in sports and attending every sporting event, recital, and school activity  that involved his granddaughters. Two words that come to mind when anyone is asked to describe Tom, which was patient and kind. It is evident to all that met that he loved the Lord and lived to give Him the glory in all things.   He will be missed by all. Tom is survived by his wife Sue, brother Larry Lee and wife Mary, son Terry Lee and wife Alice, son Jeff Lee and wife Grace, and granddaughters Caroline Lee and Victoria Lee.   He was preceded in death by his parents Culbert and Eunice Lee and brother Ezell Lee and sister Yvonne Thrash. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11:00am in the Worship Center of First Baptist Church of Carrollton, Texas.   Burial will immediately follow at Merrell Cemetery in Dallas. Memorials may be made in Thomas Lee's Name to Prestonwood Pregnancy Center.

I was looking up people I knew from Mobil Oil and found Tom’s obituary online. I began work at Mobil as a Paleontologist in 1982 and Tom was one of the first who greeted me. Tom was the kindest most gentle man I have ever known. He was my mentor and my friend for many years at Mobil and it was an honor and privilege to have known him. It saddens me to learn of his passing but it makes me glad to know he had such a long life and happy retirement. I am a better man for having known him.
