Obituary of Weber, Robert Ewing

Robert Ewing (Bob) Weber passed away on June 24, 2019 at the age of 89 following a brief illness. Born on January 18, 1930 to Louis William Weber and Gladys Hayman Weber in Galveston, Texas where he was raised, he graduated in 1951 from Texas A&M University. After meeting the love of his life, Jewell DeVore, in Galveston, they were married on September 6, 1952 and shortly thereafter, he was commissioned as an Armor officer into the U. S. Army.  While in service, he was stationed around the world, including France, Korea, Germany, and Vietnam. He earned a master’s degree from West Virginia University and retired in Dallas as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1972. Bob joined the Iowa based Vernon Co. as a sales representative where he had a long and active career, being one of only a few reps to reach the $9 million sales club. He retired from the Vernon Co. in March, 2018. Bob touched the lives of many – as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, businessman, and devoted friend. He enjoyed golfing, watching Texas Aggie football, and bragging on his children and grandchildren!  Above all, his greatest joy was simply spending time with his beloved wife, family, and friends. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jewell; his son, Bill Weber and wife Robin of Waco, TX and their children, Teri and Chris; his daughter, Donna Weber of Farmers Branch, TX; and his daughter, Sandy Muff and husband David of Lubbock, TX and their children Rebecca and Rob. A visitation and memorial service for Bob will be held from 5:15-6:45 p.m. on July 29th at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas, TX. 75234. A military honors ceremony will be held from 10:45-11:20 a.m. on July 30th at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

When I first worked in Customer Service I did not handle the Texas area so I did not work with Bob. When the company made the change that we all work on all states, I was at first intimidated by Bob. But what I came to know what was a great, nice person he was, just a teddy bear. He made me laugh. I hope the family will feel blessed by wonderful memories

Jewel,Willie,Donna and Sandy, I am so grateful for the years I have known your Dad. He was kind, friendly calm and made me feel welcome and part of whatever was going on. Bob reached out to help the children and teachers of the mission work I was involved in. I needed school supplies to help them and he and Jewel helped the children over the years. When with them, I always felt like family. Love to all of you. I will cherish the picture if all of us together at Teri’s wedding. The missing will be always but so will the beautiful memories of time loved and shared. God be with you.

When I first started at The Vernon Company I was intimidated by Bob’s commanding demeanor. As the years went by we developed a great relationship. He will be missed. Praying for peace & hope for the family.
