Obituary of McManus, Jane Coburn

Raised in Courtland, AL, born August 22, 1941, to Kathryn (Falls) and Frank Coburn, Jane passed away on July 5 at the age of 77. She earned a BA in Anthropology from Rhodes College and a Master’s degree in Psychology and Counseling from Texas Women’s University.  For 37 years she was in private practice at Medical City Dallas. In addition to her work with thousands of patients over the years, she was particularly proud of her work with veterans with PTSD and musicians with performance anxiety. Left with many happy memories are her husband of 42 years, Jerry, and children Jay (Sally) McManus, Joel (James) Queen, Marty McManus, Kathryn Tate Ringer (Steve), and Edward Clarke (Marcy), ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow.  Memorial gifts in Jane’s name can be made to the Epiphany Program (which she founded) at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75230 or to Faith Presbyterian Hospice, 12477 Merit Drive, Dallas, TX 75230. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

I am just learning of Jane’s passing. Although a patient for several years, I consider her a friend. She was that kind of person. My condolences to Jerry and the family.

Jane was always one of the sweetest members of our class. I had the pleasure of visiting with her at the 50th reunion I believe. So sorry for your loss.

Jane was my councilor and friend. She was a wise woman and probably changed my life forever. I’m grateful God placed her in my life at a particularly needful time.I’ve lived a richer, fuller life because of her and will always remember her lovingly.
