Obituary of Washington, Ruth Alma (Busby)

Ruth Alma (Busby) Washington of Dallas, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the age of 74.  She was born to Alma Busby on December 9, 1944.  Ruth accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church in Paris, TN. Ruth attended Central High school in Paris, TN and graduated in 1961.  She united in Holy Matrimony with Mr. William T. Washington March 26,1964. To this union five children were born all residing in Dallas, TX. Ruth was a member of New Jerusalem A.M.E Church under the leadership of Senior Pastor Phea Kennedy. Ruth was a military wife and she traveled the world with her husband and children.  Upon settling in Dallas, Texas Ruth became an employee of the Dallas Independent School District for five years. Her true passion was being a devoted wife and mother taking care of her family.  Ruth was very outspoken and was well respected by everyone. The neighborhood children loved her and they all referred to her as “Big Momma”. She loved all genres of music and was a great dancer.  Her favorite past time was cooking.  Ruth also loved shopping and interior decorating. She loved shopping from Catalogs and the Home Shopping Network (HSN). She is preceded in death by her mother Alma N. Busby.  Her husband William T. Washington Sr. of 55 years. Uncle Robert E. Busby, Aunt Willie Mae Page. Ruth leaves to cherish her memories: children, William Terry Washington Jr., Rosalin Jeanette Washington, Darryl Clayton Washington, Derrick O’neal Washington, and LaKesha Dione Smith (Kevin Smith) all of Dallas, TX.  Five grandchildren; Brandon, Deziree’, Chelsei, Darrian (Houston, Tx) and DaraKnique. Four great grandchildren; Ashton, McKenzei, Mekhi, and Makari. All residing in Dallas,TX.  Sisters, Barbara Jo Tharpe (Raymond) (Paris, TN), Cathy Busby (Paris, TN), and one brother Bobby Busby Sr. (Nadine) of Tulsa, OK. And a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family will be receiving friends and family on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. Ruth's "Home Going Celebration" service will be on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Brooks Family Chapel. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
