I love you baby brother, I miss your bear hugs........
Lots of sayings happen to be true.
Except for some because they didn't apply to you.
For example & you can try to prove me wrong.
But for me it was “you don't know what you have till it's gone “.
I may have only been 4 when you came along to my life like a Texas Twister.
But you made me the PROUDEST, happiest big sister.
You were funny, clever and yet still kind.
Always had mom in the back of your mind.
You always wanted to make your dad proud.
You were never the bully of the crowd.
I knew you were divine and an inspiration.
A gift from God to your cynical generation.
You had a way to remind us all that there is a simple solution.
Even when we felt ourselves hopeless you’d find the resolution.
You always had great taste.
Never let anything go to waste.
You weren't a hoarder but you did save things for another day.
Things you knew that were rare or earned & took effort to come your way.
You were smart and sincere but never conceded.
You were the brightness and humility this family needed.
Kinking, Pancho Villa, Sapo Verde, Butterball, Butters.
You meant a lot to me and to that of many others.
Mom had 4 children yet you were the 1st to be committed to your goals.
You excelled in all your endeavors without excuses; gave it your all with your heart and soul.
You were the 1st to move out to a big University.
Faced all roadblocks and sought a life with diversity.
You graduated with a degree that we all in admired.
You managed to stay motivated and inspired.
Your generation; although was set up to fail.
It was your dedication that made you prevail.
You had a life as a young man that for others only TV can provide.
Yet you never let your guard down and put all drama aside.
You always came back home.
Made sure that mom and Eddie weren't alone.
You paid your dues with your sweat and your tears.
Conquered all of your nightmares and fears.
From Star Wars to football you were there.
Ready to go out with friends for brunch, craft cocktails and movies without a care.
You kept up with family and friends,
You maintained your word till the very end.
You were always ahead of us but this wasn't a race.
You just had things to do, places to be and now you're gone without a trace.
If I'm crying it's because this truly was my loss greater than any other.
Simply because I knew what I had in my very own baby brother.
I love you, miss you and just want you to know,
In this life your body and mind went so far,
In heaven there's no telling how far your soul can go.

I will keep this short. We may not have kept in touch after being college roommates, growing up through grade school, and jamming out as "the trumpet trio", but hearing about your passing has affected me in a meaningful way. I hope you found happiness in the afterlife. Always in my thoughts. ~X~
