Sandra Neeley Weatherby passed away peacefully at Dallas Medical Center Friday, September 13, 2019, at 12:40 a.m. She was under the care of America’s Best Care Hospice. Sandy was born January 22, 1939, in Smithland, TX. Born the daughter of David and Florence Neeley, she is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert Neeley and Morris Neeley. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Preston Weatherby, stepdaughter Pat Dixon of Fayette, AL, cousin Faye Renfro of Smithland, TX, and many beloved friends. Sandy met the love of her life Preston Weatherby after Preston finished his tour as a U.S. Marine. When returning home from war, he was tired and seeking a place to rest. He went to a Dallas boarding house and what he didn’t realize was it was a women’s boarding house. He was allowed to rest there and when he woke up he looked up and Sandy was in the room. They began dating and were married on June 20, 1958. Sandy attended business school in Dallas and later worked for McKesson Pharmaceuticals as an Inventory Manager for 55 years until her retirement in 1994. Sandy attended Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch for 50 years. During this time, Sandy served in many capacities of the church. She also volunteered in the church office after retiring. During their retirement years, Sandy and Preston traveled extensively. They visited Preston’s sister, Ethelyn, and brother-in-law, Pierre, in Europe and saw Paris, Germany and Holland. They bought an RV and traveled the United States, seeing 44 of the 50 states, Canada and Mexico. Many special memories were made with wonderful friends in Sandy’s 80 years. She will be forever loved. Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. "Enjoy every minute you have with those you love, my dear,

for no one can take joy that is past away from you.

It will be there in your heart to live on when the dark days come.”
