Ding, Clyde Calvin

Clyde Calvin Ding went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his home in The Colony, Texas.  Clyde was born in Dickinson, North Dakota to Albert and Dorothy Ding on June 17, 1949.  He was a Vietnam War Veteran and served our country in the United States Navy until 1973.  It was during his service in Vietnam that he met the love of his life, Mai, who became his devoted wife of 49 years.

Known for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering loyalty, Clyde was a respected leader and a well-loved mentor to many who knew him.  Through active roles in the VFW and the American Legion, he enthusiastically organized and supported many efforts that benefited his fellow veterans and the community he loved dearly.

Despite a lifetime of accomplishment, Clyde’s greatest joy and source of pride in life were his four sons and being “Grandpa” to his seven grandchildren.  Whether it was time spent hunting, countless hours cheering from sidelines, or playing outside with his grand kids, his most cherished moments were those spent surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by both parents and sister, Nancy, who died at age three.  Surviving Clyde are his wife, Mai, son, Tommy Ding and wife, Peggy, son Chris Ding and wife, Rachel, son Michael Ding and wife, Kandice, son Jeffery Ding, granddaughter, Morgan Ding, and grandsons Connor Ding, Mason Ding, Braydon Cruz, Ryan Ding, Drake Ding, and Weston Ding.

Clyde will be laid to rest, with military honors, during a graveside service at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 at 11:15 am.  Visitation will be held in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234 on Tuesday, November 5th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Clyde's grandfather, Louis Ding, Sr., was an older half brother to my father, Herbert Ding. Clyde's son, Tommy, lived and worked close to where my mother, Thelma Ding, lived in Glenwood Springs, CO, until we moved her out in 2010, and she passed away in 2013. I saw Clyde at our Ding reunion, in Hebron, ND, in July 2010. Clyde was, also, a good Facebook friend. I will, truly, miss him, and wish all of his family the best!

Old friends are never forgotton. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. But, we have the comfort of knowing where he is. Dave and Clyde have gone on before Mai and I but we will all be together again for another wonderful vacation that will last for eternity.
