“I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks.”

Obituary of
Lemberg, John Lee
John Lee Lemberg, 77, passed away late Sunday afternoon, 3 November 2019. John was born in 1942 to parents John ‘Jack’ Lemberg and Jeanne (Mitchler) Lemberg in Neenah Wisconsin. Nicknamed ‘Skipper’, he spent his early life in Neenah, spending much time with his paternal grandfather, Christian Lemberg, who taught him to read before he started school and encouraged his drawing. At the age of 10, he moved with his family to Dallas. Although not especially interested in school, he excelled in art.
John served in the Air Force, stationed in Panama City FL where he worked on F-104 turbojet engines, and then in Perrin Airforce Base in Sherman Texas. After being discharged in 1968, he began to make a name for himself in the Dallas graphic design community, eventually going on to be the Creative Director of Mary Kay Cosmetics in the late 70’s and early 80s and working as an Account Executive for various creative teams and firms throughout his professional life.
He was a minimalist with exceptional taste and a penchant for contemporary design and decor. He also had a passion for sailing and firearms.
He is preceded in death by his brother David and sister Lisa. He is survived by his daughter Kristin Leith, son-in-law David Leith and grandson Ciaran Leith of Edinburgh, Scotland. He is also survived by his mother Jeanne Lemberg of McKinney Texas, and his brothers Chris and Tim Lemberg of Lavon Texas and Atlanta Georgia respectively.
He is missed by his dear friends David Pearce and David Gephardt of Dallas Texas, his sisters-in-law Judy and Nancy of Lavon Texas and Atlanta Georgia respectively, a host of nieces and nephews and the many people that he encountered, touched and bemused with his quiet manner, dryly absurd sense of humour and quirky observations of life.
True to form, John did not want a traditional funeral. He explicitly instructed his daughter to cremate his remains, ‘throw a party and scatter his ashes in interesting places all over the world’ – and that is what she is going to do.
‘A party to celebrate John Lee Lemberg, a quietly extreme person’ will be held in the Conference Room at the Frontiers of Flight Museum
