April 21, 1926 - November 30, 2019
Mrs. Nadell Wilson MgGlaun passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 in Plano, Texas.
Nadell was the third of four daughters born to Mattie and Frank Wilson. She was born April 21, 1926 in Snyder, Texas. After graduation from Snyder High School, she attended McMurry College. Nadell married her high school sweetheart, Donald McGlaun upon his return from World War II where he was a prisoner of war. They lived in Amarillo, Shreveport, England, South Carolina, and finally settled in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1958. Nadell began her career in banking in Snyder and continued working in each city as the Air Force moved her husband. She had an incredibly accomplished career, retiring as a vice president of First Wichita National Bank in Wichita Falls, Texas. Toward the end of her career she was an active member of the National Association of Bank Women. During her time in Wichita Falls, she was a committed member of First Baptist. Following the death of her husband, Nadell moved to Carrollton, Texas to be closer to her daughter, Kathy, and her family. She attended many games and performances and loved being part of the lives of her grandchildren. She was an involved member at First Baptist Carrollton after her move, and made many wonderful friendships. She loved playing Bridge with her friends around Carrollton at various senior centers.
Nadell was an example of hard work and an inspiration to all. She worked full-time at the bank, kept an immaculate home, and somehow found the time to make garments each weekend for herself and her daughter. Her devotion to her husband was never more evident than as his health deteriorated, and she took on the role of caregiver. She loved her family and her church. Nadell served others selflessly and was always concerned with the care of those around her.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Katherine “Kathy” Compton (née McGlaun) of The Colony, Texas; her grandchildren Karen and Bryan Compton of Plano, Texas, Sarah and Jeffrey Compton of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Carin and Cameron Asby of Houston, Texas. She will be fondly remembered by her five great-grandchildren, Anna Kate, Betsy, Leo, and Mary Asby of Houston, Texas and George Rominski of Anna Arbor, Michigan. Nadell also leaves behind her sisters Jo McCullah of Plano, Texas and Mary McCowen of Kaufman, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald McGlaun; her sister Connie Stirman; her parents, Mattie and Frank Wilson; and her son-in-law, Mike Compton.
Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 am on Monday, December 9, and a funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church Carrollton, Texas. A graveside service will occur Monday afternoon in Snyder, Texas at the Snyder Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wayne and Theresa Allen Endowment Fund at First Baptist Carrollton.
The family would like to thank the staff at Prestonwood Court for their compassionate care and loving attention.
