Obituary of Wood, Roy Franklin

Roy Franklin Wood, 84, was born February 8, 1935, in Bradford, Arkansas andĀ  passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020.Ā  He was oldest son of Frank and Nora Wood of Clarendon, Arkansas. Ā Ā Ā Roy was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ray C. Wood of Hazen, Arkansas. .Ā  He is survived in death by his wife, Peggy Lane Wood of Carrollton, TX, the love of his life for 60 years; his son, Tim Wood and wife, Nancy of Collinsville, OK and their children, Natalie and Will; his youngest son, Keith Wood and wife, Angie of Raleigh, NC and their children, Aubrey, Landry and Cade.Ā  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Roy lived in Clarendon through his high school years excelling in school and athletics.Ā  He attended college at Arkansas State two years before transferring to Southern Methodist University where graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree.Ā Ā  While in Dallas, he met the love of his life, Peggy and started his family after moving to Temple, Texas.Ā  His family moved back to the Dallas area where he worked hard at three jobs to provide his family the best of life.Ā  Roy worked for Texas Instruments in the early years before starting his final job with Phillips 66 where we worked for over 20 years in Dallas, TX and Pryor, OK.Ā  He also had a distinguished military service in the Texas National Guard as a Tank Commander in the 3rd Brigade - 49th Armored Division and achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel.Ā  Roy was committed to his job and he was a devoted Christian. Roy loved church involvement teaching Sunday school and served as a church leader.Ā  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 pm.Ā  All in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.     Roy was my sunday school teacher for many years. I loved and respected him and will miss him but am so happy that he is at peace and home with our Heavenly Father.     Roy was my sunday school teacher for many years. I loved and respected him and will miss him but am so happy that he is at peace and home with our Heavenly Father.
