Obituary of Esparza, Sheila Jo

Sheila Jo Esparza, age 57, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital. She was born November 27, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Robert Gene Munter (deceased) and Joyce Ellen Munter. She moved to Pekin, Illinois in 1965 where she was raised from childhood.  In 1980, she became a graduate of Pekin High School.  After graduation, she moved to Florida with her parents the following year where she attended Pensacola College.  It was in Florida that she married and had her first child. Shortly afterward, in 1986, the family moved to Texas where they bought a home and raised four children. In 2004, she started working as a teacher’s assistant in the same school district that her children attended. During that time, she was also attending school. She completed her education at Dallas Christian College in 2006 and became a teacher. After a teaching career of 15 years, she became an instructional facilitator where she used her experience to guide other teachers and provide individualized instruction to students in need. Sheila truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as chatting with friends and family, singing and playing piano, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to love and reach people in a deep and positive way. She lived to see all four of her children graduate from college and marry. She is survived by her four children, Raul Abraham Esparza III, Sara Jovanna Hawks, Caleb Gabriel Esparza and Rebeca Jenae Massey. Her pride and joy were her seven grandchildren; Raul Abraham Esparza IV, Elena Marie Esparza, Heidi Elysia Esparza, Aubrey Marie Esparza, Ailey Jo Esparza, Micah Jeffery Hawks and Ellie Jayne Hawks. The family will be receiving visitors on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 6:00 pm at First Baptist Church Farmers Branch, 13017 William Dodson Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

I had the pleasure of knowing Sheila just for a short time, but it was of great substance. Sheila did mark my existence as a beautiful soul as she was. She lend the first friendly hand when I started working at school last year. She never judged and always had a joyful way to see life. She taught me soooo much as a person. I do feel her loss. I can only imagine what it means to her family. Please accept my condolences.

My thoughts & prayers go out to Sheila’s family. I treasure the many years of knowing & working with Sheila. She would make my day. She was funny, witty, & very focused on her job as a teacher. She was a strong, Christian lady who I loved & who inspired me to be a better person. She was taken far too soon, but it is comforting to know that she is at home with her Heavenly Father & her Savior, Jesus Christ. Sheila, I miss you, but one day we will see each other again.
