Obituary of Anich, Nicholas George

Nicholas George Anich, 55, of Lewisville, Texas, found peace on Friday, January 24, 2020 in Dallas, Texas with his family at his side after a year-long battle with cancer. Nick was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is the third of George and Joan (Fleming) Anich’s six children. Nick grew up in Pewaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha. Nick was a standout cross-country and track record-holder, and among other accomplishments, placed second in the Wisconsin Cross Country State Championship his senior year. After high school, Nick moved to Dallas, Texas where he worked for KXTX Channel 39 for many years, working his way up from moving boxes to a Master Control Engineer. He left that job to become a stay-at-home dad after getting married and the birth of his first child. He started college and continued part-time while raising his three children, graduating magna cum laude from the University of North Texas with a degree in Business Information Systems. He then worked as a computer technician and IT specialist for various employers, including the McKinney School District and North Central Texas College, where he found his perfect career match and second family. Nick had a wonderful sense of humor, which he exhibited to the end. He was a prankster, had a quick wit, and had a clever nickname for everyone he met. He was also a hard worker and was highly respected by his colleagues and students, but never lost his refreshing sense of fun. He was a tinkerer and loved all things electronic. One of Nick’s greatest accomplishments was at the age of 13, he, his brother Mark and father, rode their ten-speed bicycles from Wisconsin to his grandmother’s home in Largo, Florida – a 1500-mile ride. Nick is survived by his three children, Claire, Sam, and Mary Grace, friend and former wife, Melanie Morgan, his father, George, sisters Lori (David) Lentz and Stacy Anich, brothers Mark, Christopher (Kristin), and Jason, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Nick is preceded in death by his mother, Joan (Fleming) Anich and his grandparents. Nick will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him. Rest in peace, Champ. A private memorial service was held on January 26, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. A memorial service will also be held in Wisconsin in the Summer of 2020. In his honor, North Central Texas College has established the Nick Anich Memorial Scholarship. Donations may be made to the scholarship at North Central Texas College, and can be sent to the NCTC Foundation, 1525 W. California St. Gainesville, Texas 76240; or by going online to nctc.edu and click the “Give a Gift” button at the bottom. Please indicate the donation is for the Nick Anich Memorial Scholarship.
