Obituary of Kassees, George Saadallah

George Sa’adallah Kassees went home to God February 7, 2020 at the age of 94. He passed at home peacefully, surrounded by the love of family and friends.  George lived a full life and was truly beloved and respected, both personally and professionally, by all who knew him.  He will be deeply missed. George was born in the holy Palestinian city of Jerusalem to Dr. Sa’adallah and Asma Kassees on May 27, 1925.  He grew up in Ramallah, where his father was both physician and mayor until his death in 1937.  George served in the British army at the Suez Canal during WWII, and after the war worked as a housing liaison with the American Government where he met his first wife, Beatrice Inglis, who worked in the American Embassy in Amman, Jordan. He emigrated to the US in December 1956.  George began his career in traveling sales in the Southern US.  He then managed jewelry stores in Chicago and Tampa before accepting a position at Linz Jewelers North Park in Dallas, which he managed for 19 years.  Upon leaving Linz, George worked with Richard D. Eiseman Jewels for several years before opening his own store in Dallas, first in Glen Lakes Towers, and later on Lovers Lane.  After 17 years, George chose to close his store and accept a position as General Manager for William Noble Rare Jewels in Highland Park Village, where he worked until his retirement in 2015 at the age of 90. George is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Sa’adallah and Asma Kassees; first wife, Beatrice “Bea” Kassees; brothers, John Sa’adallah Kassees and wife Nikki, Kamil Sa’adallah Kassees and wife Francis, and Samir Sa’adallah Kassees; sisters, Doris Kassees Sallaman and husband Farid, and Wedad Kassees Akl and husband Dr. Farid; brother-in-law Louis Mogannam. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Judith Kassees; sisters, Samira Kassees Tuel and husband Duane, and Vera Kassees Mogannam; sister-in-law, Martha Kassees; daughters, Susan Kassees Athey and husband Larry, Cynthia Kassees Myers and husband Terry; sons, Sa’adallah George Kassees and wife Susan, and Christopher Hannan Beiersdorf.  He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, who all dearly loved their “Papa George.” Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 19th at 2 pm, at Bella Donna Chapel, 6641 Mediterranean Drive, McKinney, TX 75070. Funeral services provided by North Dallas Funeral Home in Farmers Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s name to the American Heart Association or the Heart Brothers Foundation. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
