Obituary of Glover III, Thomas Gifford

Thomas Gifford Glover III passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 72. Thomas was born in 1947 in Meridian, Mississippi. As a military child, he grew up in half a dozen places, including Hawaii, where he graduated from Admiral Arthur W. Radford High School.  After high school Thomas proudly served as a rifleman with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to New York City. Thomas graduated from the School of Visual Arts (B.F.A.) and the New School (M.A.), where he developed a deep understanding of the arts and a passion for photography. His creativity and photographic abilities were most impressive. Thomas was an accomplished professional photographer for more than two decades. His work appeared in diverse publications such as Photo and W, and was exhibited at the Neikrug Gallery in New York City.  Thomas always took pride in living a life of “courage and imagination” and lived in majors cities throughout his life including Los Angeles and Paris, France, where he lived for 15 years.  In 2005 Thomas returned to the United States where he was a dedicated teacher in Dallas, Texas, until his retirement in 2016.  Thomas never lost his passion for photography, which he continued to do as a hobby until the end of his life. Thomas turned to Judaism, which he loved and observed faithfully, and converted at the age of 61 at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, Texas. Thomas was a loving father and is survived by his daughter Clémence with whom he had an extraordinary bond, as well as his former spouse Agnès Glover. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Gifford Glover II and Vivian Ruth (Jones) Glover. Due to the current health crisis, a private graveside service and celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Thomas may be made to the Parkinson Voice Project, 646 North Coit Rd # 2250, Richardson, TX 75080. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

I am so sorry to hear this. Have thought of him often and wondered how I could ever find him and reconnect. He was MY cousin! Cannot believe he was in Dallas. I am in Arlington. Would loved to have looked him in the eye and held his hands and listened to all of his adventures as an adult. Was very special to me. I guess I’ll have to just keep on missing him! Love you, Tommy!
