Obituary of Perrin, Dr. Joe L.

Dr. Joe L. Perrin passed away peacefully the morning of April 26, 2020.  Joe was born November 2, 1927 in Reed, OK.  He was the first son born to Roy O. and Thelma Moss Perrin. After high school graduation, Joe served in the post WWII army.  After his service, he received his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Oklahoma State University and his master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma where he met his future wife, June Malone and started his family.   He relocated his family many times throughout his years with the U. S. Public Health Service and finally settled permanently in Dallas, Texas.   During his years at the Public Health Service he rose to the rank of Captain and was the Director of his five-state region.  After retiring, Joe obtained his doctorate in Public Health from TWU and taught Public Health on a College level for several years. Joe was a long-time member of Royal Haven Baptist Church serving as deacon, preschool Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir.  Joe was a lifetime member of Lone Star Chapter # 124 of the NAWCC and served as president for a term.  He was also a member of the North Dallas Model A Club. Joe was predeceased by his wife, June M. Perrin, his son, Richard C. Perrin, sisters Jeanne Gelnar and Peggy Ramage and brother Troy Perrin. He is survived by his daughters, Mona Trout (Ron), Rhonda Perrin and Beverly Perrin (Samantha); granddaughters Lauren, Camille and Chloe; two sisters Ima Lee Sampson and Barbara Arnold (Dennis) and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Joe to Parkinson’s research or to the charity of your choice. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 30, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas  7524. A private family memorial service will be on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 12:00 pm in at the funeral home, followed by a private interment at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
