Obituary of Lemons, Malacha Alene (Pryor)

Malacha Alene (Pryor) Lemons came into the world on 9 September 1923 in the small town of Oakland, Oklahoma to John Henry and Rosa Mattie (Smith) Pryor.Ā Ā She always loved telling stories about her growing up years and all the adventures she had.Ā Ā She loved saving memories and would save anything that meant a lot to her.Ā Ā She married at the young age of 16 in 1939 to Nolan Lemons and they would remain married until his death in 2006.Ā Ā She worked as an executive secretary for many years in Dallas and was involved with her church, North Dallas Church of the Nazarene.Ā Ā On the side, she did a lot of sewing, learning how to do it at a young age from her grandmother, Mary Smith.Ā Ā She also loved to cook for her family and friends, and made delicious cakes and pies.Ā  While Malacha was devoted to her husband and to her family, her greatestĀ devotion was to God and she made sure to let everyone know that He is there for all of us.Ā Ā He was there with her to the end of her 96 years when she departed from the earth on 25 May 2020 in Dallas, Texas.Ā Ā Her earthly remains will be laid to rest beside her husband and son at Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, Oklahoma. She is survived by her three children, daughters Sherry and Nova Ann, and son Paul (Gwen); grandchildren, Alene White (Larry), Shelley McFadin (Bert), Cathy Guillory (Pat), Jennifer Bekish (Dan), Jami Ponder (Jason), Kristina Lay (Roger), and Joey Lemons; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.Ā Ā Predeceased by husband Nolan Lemons and son DeWayne Nolan Lemons. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Malacha to North Dallas Church of the Nazarene, 10303 Webb Chapel Road, Dallas, Texas 75229. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

Malacha took me under her wing when I was a young child at North Dallas Nazarene. For a year I was her only pupil in our Sunday school class. She became like a mom to me after my mom passed and from then on I called her mom. She would always tell me how much it meant to her that I called her mom. She was so very special to me. She taught me to always go to Jesus with any problems I had. Iā€™m so happy knowing she is rejoicing in the presence of God our Father and His Son Jesus. Until we meet again mom. Much love, Tammy

Mom Lemons willingly took me in to live with her, Pop Lemons and Nova Lemons so I could go to WW Samuell High School during my freshman year. I wished I had stayed until I graduated from there, but it wasn’t meant to be. I loved Mom Lemons and I’m going to miss her. She had a great love for everyone.

Paul and family, I am going to miss your mom so much. Had it not been for your family, I would probably not be serving the Lord today. Your mom was an awesome lady. Known her since our high school days in the early 60’s.
