Mobley, Anne Floyd Thompson
Anne Floyd Thompson Mobley (100) formerly of Louisville, Kentucky died May 26, 2020 in Carrollton, Texas. She was born on August 21, 1919 to Harry and Irene Thompson at her grandparents’ home in Tazewell County, Virginia.
She grew up on a large cattle farm in Tazewell County, Virginia and attended the Cove School and Tazewell High School. She graduated from Virginia Intermont Junior College and Randolph Macon Women’s College. She taught school in Cedar Bluff, Virginia and Lewisburg, West Virginia.
In 1942, she married Henry Pope Mobley, a recent graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. They lived in Lewisburg, WV until Henry joined the Army Air Corp. They lived in Berkeley, CA during his service. After WWII, they moved to Franklin, TN, Rock Hill, SC, and Louisville where Henry was pastor of Highland Presbyterian Church. After Henry retired in 1981, he had 17 interim pastorates in 8 states including Second Presbyterian in Louisville. Anne graciously moved with him and embraced each place endearing herself to each congregation.
In 2002, they moved to Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, AL where Anne resided until 2013 when she moved to the Dallas area. Henry died in 2006.
Anne is survived by her sister, Harry Lee Billington of Brentwood, TN, her sons, Henry P. Mobley, III (Alice) of Cape Porpoise, ME, Dr. Harry L. T. Mobley (Natalie), of Ann Arbor, MI, her daughter Courtland Mobley Lewis (Richard) of Coppell, TX, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Henry, her parents Harry and Irene Thompson and a sister Louise Mackrill.
