Obituary of
Gilmer, Doyce Lynn
Doyce Lynn Gilmer was born in Prosper, Texas, September 8, 1931. He went to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 31, 2020.
He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1983 after 35 years of service.
Doyce was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, of 57 years and wife, Phala of 8 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Lee & Goldie Gilmer, his brother Eddie and sister Goldilee.
He is survived by his daughter, Jan Offutt & husband, Glenn; daughter, Kathy & husband, Mike; and his son, Doyce & wife, Jill. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A special thanks to his dear friend, Bertha Brady, for her care and companionship.

Service Details:
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 10:00 am in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX 75234
Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 am in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home.
After the funeral service a graveside service will be at 1:00 pm at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243
*Everyone will need to wear a face mask to the service in the Funeral Home.

Our family always enjoyed living next door to the Gilmer family.Doyce Sr. was always kind and cheerful.He was compassionate,and his integrity was evident by the way he interacted with others. Our family is so sorry for your loss.

I worked with Doyce for quite a few years at SWBC. He was was a true gentleman. As a boss, I learned a lot from him. I am fortunate that our friendship continued into our many years of retirement. He will be missed by many.

Doyce was a traveling man, marveling at Gods Creations throughout the country in his favorite Airstream. His love of people and places was always a source of excitement and encouragement to all of us that called him friend. He will be greatly missed!
