Obituary of Naylon, George Marcus (Marc)

Marc was born on March 23, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan and died on July 11, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. His husband David Williams precedes him in death.  His mother Jacqueline Naylon, father Henry Naylon, and his two brothers Mike and Tim Naylon also precede him. His sister Ann, her husband Mike Knapick and his nephew Andrew Temrowski and his husband Brenan Hellings survive Marc. Marc graduated from University of Detroit Catholic High School for Boys.  He attended Dayton University in Dayton, Ohio.  After moving to Dallas he began his professional career in Claims Management at Carl Singer Insurance. He moved to Sedgwick as an Absence Management Team Leader and retired in 2017. Marc was a loyal husband, brother, uncle and friend. It was all or nothing for Marc.  Once he was devoted to you or a cause, he was all in. His loves also included playing board, card games (Hearts), and cycling.  He once played bridge with his Mom, Ann and Mike for 10 hours straight.  For many years he dressed as Santa Claus for Santa Paws. He adored his sister Ann and they often played computer games late into the night with him in Dallas and her in Michigan.  Marc and Ann loved the Pin Ball Festival and attended for many years, once playing pinball for 17 hours straight.  Marc was very competitive, especially with his sister Ann.  Once they competed on who could get the better tan. Marc loved to travel with his beloved husband David.  They began travel many years ago with David planning many trips to Cabo, Cancun Mexico, and Las Vegas and finding cruises that were on sale and going to so many places, they are too numerous to list. They shared their adventures with Ann and Mike, bonding together as “The 4 Amigos”.  In more recent years, Marc, David, Ann and Mike traveled the world.  They cruised very often.  One cruise was for 15 days from Seattle to Japan.  They most recently went on a cruise for 30 days from Barcelona, Spain to the Republic of Singapore. Adventurous, thrill-seeking Marc was a member of the biking club, The Wild Stallions in Dallas Texas.  Marc loved many activities. He never met a roller coaster or zip line he didn’t want to try.  He also loved to go to the State Fair of Texas looking for any thrill seeking rides that were available to ride. Marc leaves this life to join his husband David.  Marc once said David was the best thing that ever happened to him.  He will be missed deeply by family especially his sister Ann.  He will also be missed by many friends, including his Van Ness Lane family. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care or the American Cancer Society in honor of George Marcus (Marc) Naylon. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10:00 am at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

    Bryan,
This is Ann, Marc’s sister. It was so nice to read your message. Marc talked often of that bike trip–and even though I was 7 years younger, I remember you guys doing that. While we lived 1,000 miles away from each other, we traveled and saw each other every month or so. I remember you guys lived on Parkside and were together all through high school. He is missed.

Marc and I were classmates at University of Detroit High School and he lived a block away. We were best friends during high school and unfortunately I left for California immediately after graduation from high school and lost track of Marc and all my Detroit friends.
My fondest memory with Marc was our epic bike trip as 14 year olds the summer before starting high school. We rode out bicycles from Detroit to Traverse City, Michigan. We made 100 miles per day and slept in sleeping bags in the side of the road in pastures. We made 100 miles per day on our trip. Hard to believe our parents let us take such a trip alone. We made the round trip and we’re proud of our accomplishment.
Marc was a wonderful person. Very kind and dedicated to his friends. I was a better person for having known Marc.

Being cousins and so close in age by one year, Marc and I celebrated ‘kid summers’ up at Wequetonsing in Northern Michigan together . . . we were ‘best buddies’ during those growing years sharing adventures together that we were glad our parents never knew. Will miss you, Marc . . . we shared such FUN memorable times up North! Every time I drive through Wequetonsing, I’ll remember times together, Cousin . . . and, smile! Mary Baird

I was so sorry to hear of Marc’s passing. We worked together as managers for a few years until he retired. He was one of my Fitbit rivals. I remember his love for Mike and Ike’s and our mutual love for jelly beans and Grandma vanilla sandwhich cookies. It’s the little things that we remember. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this very tough time.
