November 7, 1937 - September 5, 2020
Dana Lorane Bennett was born November 7, 1937, west of Hillsboro on Aquilla Creek to Dana Dewitt Bennett and Ura May Bennett. Dana graduated from Hillsboro High School and then Abilene Christian College. He served in the Air Force Reserve as a mechanic.
He lived most of his life in the Woodbury community where he farmed. Dana was a wonderful musician and enjoyed playing music and dominoes with his friends. He was in several bands and participated in a few country music plays through the years, always staying busy with various activities. He was a member of the College Hill Church of Christ in Hillsboro, Texas.
Dana was so happy, when in the fall of 1990, he was reunited with an old acquaintance from his grade school years! His friend Jacquenette Triplett Thweatt shared his love of country music. She started attending the monthly Woodbury Opry. Dana and Jacque were married in August of 1991 and moved to Hillsboro. They just recently celebrated 29 years of marriage.
Dana and Jacque enjoyed a wonderful life together. Their whole life was centered around their many friends, church and a love of country music. Dana played several instruments and was an excellent fiddle player, especially his outstanding performance of “Orange Blossom Special”.
He lost his struggle with several health problems and passed away on September 5, 2020 at Madison on Marsh Nursing Home in Carrollton, Texas where he had been living for the last year.
