Obituary of Adams Jr., Jack H.

Jack H. Adams, Jr. of The Colony, Texas, passed away at the age of 85 on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Windhaven Assisted Living in Frisco, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Jack and Iretta Hooe and their family relocated to Dallas, Texas. Jack attended Armstrong Elementary and Highland Park High School where he excelled in tennis. He then attended Southern Methodist University on a tennis scholarship, majored in business, and played tennis competitively for three years until he enlisted to serve in the United States Army. He was assigned to the army hospital in Stuttgart, Germany and upon his honorable discharge returned to Dallas and began his career in the fire and casualty insurance industry, where he met his life partner and wife, Mary Ann Zapalac. They were married in Holy Trinity Catholic Church and would have been married 60 years this October. Jack started his own general insurance agency, Adams Special Risk, specializing in surplus lines, and his wife, Mary Ann, worked alongside him. As a devoted father, he enjoyed coaching and referring soccer games, and camping and fishing through the Boy Scouts of America. Jack was a member of the Carrollton Church of Christ. He also served as a board member of the Texas Surplus Lines Association, and was an active member of the Texas Marina Association, and NAPSLO. In the year 2000, Jack sold his business, retired, and with Mary Ann, traveled in the United States and Europe. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Adams, son, Jack Adams, III and wife, Mindy of Celina; son, Allen Adams and wife, Rana of Wylie; granddaughters, Madisyn Adams of Wylie, Sydney Adams and Kelsi Adams of Frisco, and Kayla Adams of Denton.  Jack’s children and grandchildren enjoyed and will fondly remember his love for chocolate and his great sense of humor, which he used a lot! The viewing will be on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas, TX 75234, with private graveside services at Restland Memorial Park. If desired, donations in Jack’s name may be made to the charity of your choice. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

Maryann and family, I am so sorry about your loss. I enjoyed seeing Jack at our neighborhoods board meetings, and walking down the street to get the mail. Maryann, don’t forget that I am always here for you, if you need anything.

Although I was far away in California, we enjoyed phone conversations and emails when he was able. I already miss knowing that I have the best cousin ever to talk to in Texas.
