Obituary of
Jarrell, Richard Keith
Richard Keith Jarrell left this world to live with his Heavenly Father on October 3rd, 2020. He was cherished and respected by all that were blessed to know him.
Rick was born on June 3rd, 1954 to the late Charles Keith Jarrell and Allegra Ann Richardson Jarrell in Jackson, Mississippi. He never liked that his entire family was born in Texas, making him the sole Mississippian, but he got to Texas as soon as he could and never left.
Rick was raised in the church going to First Baptist Dallas. For the past 20 years, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Carrollton. He came to know the Lord early in his life and was always proud to say he was baptized by the late W.A. Criswell.
Rick worked at Linz Jewelry, while going to the University of Texas at Dallas, from which he graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation, he worked at Liberty Mutual.
In November of 1982, he met Susie Moore at a Bridges Sunday School class party. They married one year later on December 3rd, 1983. He was employed at Marsh & McLennan in Dallas from 1986-2006. He left Marsh and in August of 2006 went to work at MHBT where he continued to work until his death. Many of his clients became close friends and appreciated his hard work and dedication to their needs.
One of Rick’s many passions was Bible Study Fellowship. He was faithful to attend and participate every Monday night for over a decade. He learned all he could about three of his greatest loves, watches, guitars and cars, while he was on Earth and spent many an evening perusing eBay for his next great deal. Even in Rick’s younger years, his father often used to comment that Rick was saving him into the poor house.
He volunteered for several years with the American Heart Association’s annual fundraiser. He also served on the board of directors of Orphan Angel, an organization that supported the adoption of orphans from the Ukraine.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years, Susie, his son Benjamin Keith (Lauren), his daughter Emily Grace (Kevin), his mother Allegra, his brothers Craig (Cindy) and Mark (Jane). Also, his nephew T.J. (Tina), niece Sarah and nephew Luke, and his cousins Marilyn (Bill), Dana (Carol), and Tim.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Keith Jarrell, his grandparents Wade and Ople Richardson and W.A. and Grace Jarrell. He was loved by many and will be missed by many more. We take great comfort in knowing we will join him again when God calls us home.
Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

Rick was a cherished business partner and friend for many years. He would always find time to meet with me or check in with me no matter what was going on in his life. Always looking at the positive in everything. Susie, Ben and & Emily he always talked proudly of his family. He would light up every time he talked about you. I will miss Rick and will always cherish the fact that I was able to share his company over the years.

Rick was the first to give a compliment . Always had a smile and a quick step. He was so proid of his family and our agency. He brought his wonderful son Ben to follow him intothe MMA family and then to gain a daughter in law with Lauren a revered co worker. A huge loss for all that knew him . I’ll miss you, Rick and pray for your family to find peace after through memories and prayer.

In business, we meet many who are just that: business associates. Rick and I were introduced a few years ago as competitors on a business deal but yet found a way to trust one another during our years of working together. Although we never met in person, I felt like he was a long-lost friend with each of us finding a way to work together and trust one another. Even once our business relationship ceased, we remained in contact, often sharing stories of bad days. Rick always found a positive from a negative, a chuckle from a grievance. Many talks were late at night after a bad day that one or the other of us endured. We talked often about family and I know that he cared deeply for all, family and business associates. Praying for God’s comfort and that tears of sadness give way to smiles as you remember Rick and al that you shared together.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Rick is that he was a gentleman of the highest order. He was very likeable and a pleasure to visit with. He would remember things about my family and always ask how things were going. Even though we did not visit much since I retired and moved away, I have always considered him a friend. Mary and I are very saddened by his death and especially for his family, whom Rick was always happy to converse about.

I had absolute pleasure of working with Rick. He was amazingly kind gentleman. He was so thoughtful when my mother passed away a few months ago. His kindness resonated with me deeply. May he be resting and relaxing in the glory of heaven. God bless your family.

Rick Jarrell was a very close friend for over 30 years. I have never known a more caring and sincere human being. Rick was always the very first to respond to someone else’s challenge or issue. The angels in heaven are blessed with his presence. Good Speed our dear friend.

One of the best people that I ever worked with. Liked him from the moment I met him and the more I was around him the more I liked him. The world is missing someone special.
