Obituary of Jones Jr., Grover Burlington

Grover Burlington Jones, Jr., age 90, died at Plano, TX on October 8, 2020. Born September 12, 1930 in Waco, TX. He lived in Lacy Lakeview, Waco, Wichita Falls, Madison, WI, Dallas, Farmers Branch, and Salado, TX, served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, worked for Ford Motor Company, Southland Corporation and McLane Grocery Distribution primarily in corporate credit management until retiring in 1997. At the company’s request, he returned to work part time until 2012 at the age of 82. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton and held numerous positions in other churches where they lived and served. He was most often recognized for the work he did as counselor, coach and director of Royal Ambassadors, an organization to nurture and train young boys and teenagers at the First Baptist Church of Carrollton. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Georgia Jones, Dallas, TX, sister Laura Dobbs, Crawford, TX, children and spouses Gary and Tami Jones, Carrollton, TX, Gay and David Selman, Richardson, TX, grandchildren and their spouses Daniel and Rachel Jones, Richardson, TX, Anna and Aaron Glover, Dallas, TX, Meredith and Peter Palko, Wichita Falls, TX, Ben and Vicky Jones, Dallas, TX, great grandchildren, Jack and Claire Glover, Joshua Jones, Lincoln Palko, Audrey Jones and another great grandson due in February. Grover is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews and their families. Grover was proceeded in death by his parents Grover and Laura Jones, sister Neva Haslbauer, and brother Eric Jones. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at First Baptist Church at the Fields, 1401 Carrollton Parkway, Carrollton, TX 75010. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, 2124 S. 5th St., Waco, TX 76706 at 11:00 am Thursday, October 15, 2020.
