Just learned of Joe’s death and we are so saddened about this. Joe was the youth minister at the Springfield Church of Christ in Springfield, Virginia and I was a member of his youth group. I hold Joe in high regard as he was the most influential person in my teenage years, making me the man I am today. His influence had a great impact on my life makes me how I live my life today. He was one of the GREAT ONES. He will be truly missed by many. Wish we could have kept close touch with each other. God bless you and your family. With our deepest sympathy Curtis & Danene McLeroy

Joe was a great man who would always put the needs of others before his own. His service to his country, church and community and his devotion to Annette and his family were a solid example to my generation that help guide us. Like all great men he built people up at every opportunity while being an example of mental toughness and morality. I loved to hear his stories and loved his sense of humor and while we all wish we had more time with Joe, I am very thankful for the time I did have and for the great family and legacy he leaves us. Thank you uncle Joe.
