Obituary of Anderson, Dane Lee

Dane Lee Anderson, 67, of Farmers Branch, Texas passed away on November 11, 2020 after battling numerous complications caused by COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease). Dane is survived by:  Cheryl, his wife;  Savanna and Javier and Leah, his daughter and her husband and granddaughter;  Val and Mike, his stepdaughter and her husband;  Natalie and Randy, stepdaughter and her husband; Amber, Christian and Caleb , his step grandchildren;  Dianna and Dandy, his sisters;  Damon, his brother and Georgina, his stepmother. A special thanks to all the family who were a big part of Dane’s life and all the friendships of those who knew and loved him. Dane is preceded in death by his parents Don and Donna, and Sister, Dawn. Born in Cynthiana, Kentucky to Don Henry Anderson and Donna Bess Anderson on July 10, 1953, Dane was the eldest of five siblings. The Andersons moved around the tri-state area from Cynthiana to Lexington, Madison, Louisville, and Cincinnati, Ohio before coming to Dallas, Texas in 1969. While in High School, Dane competed on the swim team, and he worked at Dobbs House on Colorado Street. Dane then opened the McDonald’s on Davis, and lifeguarded at Kidd Springs in Oak Cliff during the summers. Dane would go on to graduate from Sunset High School in 1972. After High School Dane made the Dallas area his home, where he worked in many professions, making many friends over the years. In the Summer of 1993 Dane was working at a restaurant where, one afternoon, his attention was captured by a beautiful woman who was being waited on by one of his colleagues named Natalie. The woman, it turned out, was Natalie’s mother, Cheryl. In the years that followed, she would become his adored wife and mother of his cherished daughter, Savanna. Dane became a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan. Thru thick ‘n thin, good times and bad, he supported his team, and was never what he liked to refer to as one of those ‘fair weather fans’. He loved to fish, and to hunt with his dogs. But most of all, he loved his family, which always included the dogs. Dane was also an avid poker player. He developed a love for the game over the years and would look forward to his regular Friday night poker games with a group of great friends, which endured for over a decade. On May 17, 2016 Dane was elated by the arrival of his first biological grandchild, Leah Michelle. During his final years he was filled with joy from all the birthday parties, holidays, regular visits to “grandma and grandpa’s” house, and time in general that he got to spend as a much-loved grandpa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 5th, 2020 at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas, Texas 75234. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dane Anderson to:

    Uncle Dane

You’ve been taken too soon and I wish we’d have spent more time together over the past few years. Dane would make me laugh as a kid when he told me and my brother to quiet down and go play frisbee in the highway! He’d also give me that look and tilt his head to the side and say…”now Chad” while tested his patience. I’m pretty sure he would have snatched me up several times if he didn’t have to hear it from Dandy. You’ll be missed Dane.

Dane was a long time friend of mine. We worked together for over 20 years. He loved his family which included every dog he ever owned. I had never seen him happier than when his Granddaughter was born and I am heartbroken he will not get to see her grow up.
Dane was a good man who would help you with whatever you might need. Myself and all his friends will miss him greatly.
God bless him and his family and may he rest in peace.

  8. David Peugh says:

Dane was a good friend and an overall great guy. He was a good soul who was loved by all who knew him. He had such an immense love for his family and was over the moon for Leah. If he had to go more than a week between poker games he would complain that he was “jonesing” to play. He is truly missed. God bless his family and keep them through these challenging times.
